AT A GLANCE
Local Progress Michigan (LPMI) is organizing across the state to advance racial, gender and economic justice. From school boards and city councils to mayors’ offices and county commissions, we are working to advance equity and justice through all levels of local government.
LPMI currently has more than 50 members, representing 41 jurisdictions.
Our Work & Priorities
Right now, we are in the process of building out the infrastructure to establish a state chapter – with a formal leadership structure and a robust membership – that will be the foundation for statewide organizing and advocacy to come!
Many LP Michigan members are already leading locally on tenants rights, protecting residents from intrusive surveillance, and advocating to repeal abusive pre-emption laws that inhibit local power. By building on our shared leadership and expertise, we will protect and support our residents in these challenging times.
Organizing Committee
As a member-led network, our state work is led by an incredible state organizing committee – a group of LPMI members that meet regularly to weigh in on policy priorities, propose statewide campaigns, and drive the strategic vision for our work.
